I cannot believe this. According to the Toronto Star, Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin "is trying to shore up his party's traditional support among new Canadians with a pledge to kill a hated $975 immigration landing fee." No, that's not what bothers me; this is what bothers me: "A senior government spokesman said the landing fee will be eliminated to help in family reunification. 'It also builds on the government's many policy efforts to ensure that our immigration system is more fair, more responsive to the needs of new Canadians' " (emphasis mine).
Excuse me? Are the Liberals serious about their "many policy efforts to ensure that our immigration system is more fair, more responsive to the needs of new Canadians"?
How "fair" and "responsive" was this government to the needs of Xiaoping Hu (Epoch Times)? How "fair" and "responsive" has this government been to Han Guangsheng (Epoch Times)?
Well, Mr. Martin?
